Desmond Doss Info

You may have seen the movie “Hacksaw Ridge,” about army medic Desmond Doss’s heroic actions during the battle for Okinawa. For single-handedly rescuing 75 wounded men (his buddies said 100) during the fight for the Maeda Escarpment, and other acts of bravery, Doss was awarded the U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor.

As the movie shows, Desmond was motivated by strong convictions gained while growing up and a deep faith in God. The same faith that made him strong under mistreatment by his fellow soldiers, propelled his battlefield heroism and earned the great respect of his comrades and officers.
